Northern Burgenland: Description
Northern Burgenland comprises the districts of Neusiedl am See, Eisenstadt surroundings and Matterburg as well as the statutory towns of Eisenstadt, which is also the state capital, and Rust. The region is an important wine-growing region. The most important sights include Lake Neusiedl, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001, Halbturn Castle, Esterházy Castle and Forchtenstein Castle. Lake Neusiedler See is a popular destination for sports and leisure activities.
