Traun quarter: Description
The Upper Austrian regional constituency of Traunviertel takes its name from the river Traun and comprises the districts of Steyr-Land, Gmunden, Kirchdorf an der Krems and Steyr. The region lies in the southeast of the federal state. Until the middle of the 13th century, the Traunviertel belonged to Styria. The town or the river Steyr also gives its name to the neighbouring federal state. From a geographical point of view, the Traunviertel is also the Upper Austrian part of the Salzkammergut. The Traunviertel also includes numerous industrial cities and is an important economic area. The region also lies along the Austrian Iron Road.
